Perle UltraPort Express supports
new PCI Express bus technology
NASHVILLE, TN—November 24, 2005—Perle
Systems today announced the expansion of its popular UltraPort family
of Serial Cards. The UltraPort
Express is a complete serial card line that supports the new PCI
Express bus standard now being supplied by major server vendors such
as IBM, Dell, HP, Sun and many more. The new UltraPort Express series
enables companies to use the latest server technology with important
serial based equipment that is essential to their operation.
PCI Express, also known as PCIe, provides significant performance
improvements when compared to the older PCI and PCI-X technology. It
is a scalable, high-speed bus that maintains backward compatibility
with PCI applications and drivers. PCI based Serial Cards
are being used in many servers and desktops today supporting a variety
of serial devices such as receipt printers, credit card readers and
bar code readers. The Perle UltraPort Express Serial Cards
will enable companies to connect these critical serial devices to servers
that have PCI Express card slots.
